Well I saw my solicitor today, she had a very quick check over my Petition and it's spot on. So a big, big thank you to all those Wikis who assisted me. So, unless some terrible accident befalls me tomorrow I will be taking it to the Court at lunch time to hand it in, and then there's no going back. I am feeling very intrepid about his reaction when it lands on his door mat, which I have a feeling won't be great. But he does know it's coming. Dear All. In 1999 my French wife and I separated after marrying in the UK three years earlier. In 2000 she petitioned for divorce but that's as far as the proceedings went and according to the Central Index of Decrees Absolute we are still married and the 2000 divorce proceedings are still in place. I haven't seen or heard from my estranged wife since March 2000 although I do know she returned to live in France as stated in the divorce petition. I now want to marry my long term girlfriend. I have made every reasonable attempt to try to find my estranged wife but without success

I went home for a couple of weeks to try to work things out with my wife. My last ditch attempt to reconcile. Within days of my arrival she handed me a copy of the divorce papers.
