It was a little after eleven o’clock and I was heading home. I left the pub and started my London-walk (fast and determined, not meeting eye contact with other passers-by) to the tube to begin my longish journey home. I had spent the last couple of hours at a comedy night: I was one of the ‘acts’. I write ‘acts’ in quotes because I don’t see myself as ever becoming professional performer, instead, I see doing the occasional turn as a stand-up comic as a bit of fun.
