Unexpected call from my sol yesterday has got me in a spin. "We have recieved a settlement offer from your wifes solicitor" Basically no real change from an offer a while ago but things have changed in that the court valuation of property has gone her way in a big way. Now her offer is nearer 47/53% than the 75/25% it was previously. My sol is asking me to think very carefully and not to dismiss it out of hand... basically she keeps the FMH and all her personal accounts, pension etc and I keep mine. Hi Wiki's. Been looking through the blogs and posts and so much of the same old same old stuff. When people offerred me advice at the start of my seperation I didnt listen but here I am three years on realising... they where right. So from someone who thought "they cant mean me"... "i know better...", "thats not me"! Listen to the advice and take the medicine because you dont want to be where I am now. Heading to the second day in court. Finances are still the issue... So this is the scenario. You sit in a courtroom (the Repondent (Me), the Petitioner (her) and each one's solicitor and a judge. Everyone knows (except the judge) the in's and out's of the case..especially the two of you getting divorced..but at the second hearing it's still up to the solicitors to do the talking on your behalf..so this is the point all the money you've paid comes to fruition (or not). The piles of paperwork..the details of the case.. the solicitors advice about 'what you should be entitled to' come to pretty much naught when it's all about the opinion of one other human
