Well turned up at solicitors this morning to be told that my husband had instructed a barrister. Thankfully my solicitor had managed to get me a barrister at the last minute. Managed to get a side room at the court, which I can only thank God for as to say I was stressed at being in the same room as him is a total understatement. Owing to our wonderful town's roadworks both barristers arrived late. My hearing was scheduled for 10am but was eventually in court at 1pm. As this is beginning of the year I would like to set out some things relating to divorce I would like to see happen during 2008.

1) Reform of the child support system so that it delivers and is fair.

2) Education and support for divorcing couples and their families, delivered promptly by multi-disciplinary teams.

3) Reform of the legal aid system to ensure equal access to the law.

4) Clear rules regulating financial settlements.

5) Streamlining of paperwork required by the Courts.

6) Improved enforcement of court orders and penalties actually being applied for non-compliance.

Spoke to my solicitor first thing this morning, which is an accomplishment on its own. Told her of the events of the christmas and new year period. I did not even have to use gentle persuation to get her to suggest that the application to the court was made for the injunction. She said that we would ask the court for a no notice order, which means he will be served with the injunction after the court has agreed it, he will then get a chance to answer it but the injunction will be in place as soon as he has been served. I needed to email her a statement of the abuse from day 1 to present time.
