How to cope when your parents are splitting up or getting a divorce
Just because Mum and Dad argue doesn't mean they are splitting up.
But if you think they are splitting up, remember these important things:
- It's not your fault! Never. Nothing you have done has made your parents split up.
- Your parents are still your mum and your dad and always will be. They are having problems with each other, not you. Mum and Dad still love and care about you, even if they don't always behave as if they do.
- You are still you, whatever happens, and you are very special.
- You are not alone. One in every four children has parents who have split up and are now separated or divorced.
