Is there anything I can do to help Wikivorce?
Yes - You can recommend Wikivorce to another website or organisation.
People often contact us to say that they have benefited greatly from the support they received via Wikivorce and is there any way that they can help. Well - simply recommending Wikivorce is a very easy way that you can support Wikivorce and most importantly you can help to keep Wikivorce free for everyone to use.
The reason that this is such a big help is that it helps spread the word about Wikivorce and saves us from having to spend thousands of pounds on advertising and marketing.
We would be enormously grateful to any members who are able to spare about 10 or 15 minutes to help spread the word about Wikivorce.
I would be happy to help - what exactly do you need me to do?
In short - it would be an enormous help if you could send an email to a website that you know recommending that they list Wikivorce as a useful site for people going through divorce and separation.
The types of websites that you could try sending an email to include:
- your local town council or county council website (here is an A-Z list of local council websites)
- the HR department at your employer
- the HR department at a large local company
- your trade union
- your local MP
- your solicitor or mediator
- your local CAB website
- your local church website
- other support websites that you may belong to
- the website for your local town or county
1) Select one of the above types of websites and use Google to find one close to you.
2) Browse through the site to find out where they list useful resources or links.
3) If they do not already list Wikivorce then look for a "Contact Us" email address to send an email to.
4) Some websites have an online form rather than an email for submitting useful websites - so use the form instead.
What should I put in the email?
To save you time here is an email that you can cut and paste. Of course feel free to amend it or just to write your own.
Dear Sir,
I am writing to let you know about a very useful free website that I have come across for people going through divorce or separation. The site is called Wikivorce, it is a 50,000 strong community of people helping each other through this difficult time in their lives by sharing emotional support and practical advice.
I found the site very useful during my separation, and feel that your website users may also find it very helpful.
Perhaps you might consider adding it to your "useful resources" section of your website.
Here is the code to link to the Wikivorce website:
<a href="http://www.wikivorce.com/divorce/">Wikivorce Divorce Support Community</a>
Wikivorce is a fast growing and active web community, dedicated to delivering FREE access to the information, support and advice people need following the breakdown of a serious relationship.
Kind regards,
I've sent a recommendation email - what next?
Thank you very much - we genuinely appreciate you taking the time - it is a HUGE help.
After you have sent the email it would be very useful if you could add a post to the "Wikivorce Needs Your Help" forum post, just listing the organisation or website that you wrote to so that we don't duplicate emails too much.
