On 23rd December, Linda, our Editor in Chief, hit 50!
On 12th December, she had her birthday party. After months of planning, (although in fairness, planning meetings were held throughout the summer, in the garden, and aided by wine) the big event finally arrived.
Having decided fairly early on that such a celebration deserved black tie status, our Ed arrived in a full length beaded gown looking all of 40 at most. Little Miss Glamour Puss had decided she wanted a Bond theme for her own outfit, and certainly achieved it, looking absolutely gorgeous in her gown, evening gloves, and that huge grin we all know and love so well.
The guest list topped 50 and included the core Zine team of the beloved Ed, myself, and the boss. Far far far more importantly for Ed, it included her gorgeous family of Catha and Dominic, her two children, and their partners, plus her parents and siblings and many many friends.
One of the highlights of the night was your Ed setting her own hair on fire as she bent over her cake to deal with the candles. However, not even pausing, she dealt with it with customary aplomb, patting it out, carrying on to give her speech before adjourning to the ladies to deal with any pesky singed hairs. Sadly, despite the great number of photographers that night, that event was not captured!
It was a night of dancing, giggles, reminiscing and looking forward, with of course our customary bottles of pink bubbles (thank you Bev) and white wine. Heaven only knows what we told her father to lead to this particular fit of giggles, but we all seemed to enjoy it!
To round off her birthday, our Editor received her Decree Absolute on her 50th birthday, meaning she is now able to go forward, plan her next decade, and be free.
