Please note: To take advantage of our fixed price divorce you need to meet the following criteria:
Also ONE of the following must be true:
Provided that you and your spouse are agreed that you want to divorce, the process is fairly straightforward. It takes around 3 to 4 months from start to finish.
1) Place Order: Click the "Order Now" button below to place an order on our website. You can pay by debit or credit card, or by cheque. If you have any questions about our service or if you want to order by phone, just call us on freephone: 0808 2255 9454 |
2) Form Sent Out: We will send you (by email or post) a very simple form to gather basic information such as your name, address, date of marriage and place of marriage. |
3) Return Form: You complete the form and return it to us. You also send us an original copy of your marriage certificate (we can obtain a new one for you if you have lost it). If paying by cheque don't forget to include it with the form. |
4) Submit Petition: We draft and submit the required documents - including a Petition document to the court. At this point you need to pay a £340 court fee (unless you are exempt due to low income). |
5) Acknowledgement: The court will notify your spouse by sending them a copy of the petition. Your spouse will need to sign and return a short form to the court to acknowledge receipt of the petition. |
6) Decree Nisi: Once the acknowledgement is received we will apply to the court for a Decree Nisi. A judge will review the application and provided everything is in order then the divorce will be approved in principal and the Decree Nisi issued. |
7) Decree Absolute: The Decree Absolute is the final certificate that legally ends the marriage. We can apply for this on your behalf 6 weeks after the Decree Nisi. A £45 court fee is payable for the Absolute. |
When you get divorced it is strongly recommended that you obtain a court approved consent order which is essentially a legally binding financial agreement.
If you do not do this then you are open to your ex making fresh claims against your assets and income years into the future if your circumstances were to change, whether that is a lottery win, a pay rise or an increase in the value of your home.
Informal agreements, whether made verbally or in writing are not watertight, and can be over-ruled by the courts in years to come.
The service can be completed by email and phone. No face to face appointments are necessary. In most cases there is no need to attend court.
In general this service is suitable when:
| You are able to reach an amicable agreement on finances. | |
| You want a legally binding agreement without spending a fortune. | |
| Your divorce will be processed, or has already completed, in England & Wales. |
This service is also available to self reppers who went down the contested court route for ancillary relief and at some stage reached a negotiated settlement.
This comprehensive service includes all of the following:
| You need to be able to arrive at a plain english agreement with your ex on finances. Our qualified lawyers will turn this into a legally binding consent order. | |
| We will submit the consent order to the court for approval and will handle and requests for changes made by the court. | |
| We will assist you to obtain a marriage certificate if you have lost your original. | |
| We provide a free telephone support line that you can call if you have any questions about the process. |
| Wikivorce is truly unique in providing you with 24 hour a day access to an active and caring support community to help you deal with the emotional side of your breakup. | |
| Unlike other online divorce services, we use qualified solicitors to draft your consent order. | |
| We can handle the whole process via email and over the telephone to fit around your lifestyle and requirements. We will deal with the courts and if necessary with your spouse or their solicitor. So you can relax. | |
| At any time during the process you can call one of our lawyers, who can also offer legal advice on matters related to your divorce. |
Provided that you and your spouse are agreed on a fair financial agreement, the process is fairly straightforward:
1) Reach an agreement: The first step is to agree on a fair financial settlement with your spouse. One decision is whether to go for a 'Clean Break', or whether to include ongoing monthly maintenance payments. Whichever you choose it can be written up as a Consent Order. |
2) Place your Order: Use the 'Order Now' button below to pay the low fixed fee for your legally binding consent order. |
3) Information pack: We will send you a clear information pack, with two simple forms to complete. One where you write down in very simple terms what you have agreed on. And a second form for you to provide some details on the assets (property, pensions, savings) and income that you each have. |
4) Return information pack: Send us by post or email your proposed agreement and your financial disclosure form. |
5) Draft Consent Order: Based on the information provided, we will draft up a Consent Order, which we post to you for you both to sign and return. |
6) Court Approval: We will submit the signed consent order to the courts, and once approved, we will send you each a final copy. |
