This week i purchased a new tumbledryer. The Ex had always chosen the electrical stuff before - comparing products etc and I had very little to do with it - no interest and I bowed before his superior knowledge. Anyway I chose carefully comparing price, function, cashback sites, delivery times, blah blah and I'm pleased with my dryer and feel I made the best possible decision. Tick One.
For a few days now I have been aware my fridge freezer is on the blink and now Im faced with having to replace this too . Apart from more expense right now, I am almost in tears looking at the different fridge freezers online. I have measured mine, but its not as straight forward as one that fits the space. I need to look at energy ratings and volume capacity and all sorts. Its frightening. My brain skips around it. I panic.
I so want to ring him right now and have him come with me, and effectively save me from this. He wouldnt tho, and I wont give him the satisfaction of rejecting me. So somehow I have to sort this by myself. And I have to get it right. i know i'll be proud when I have, but its a huge decision and one I dont want to make alone. :(

I'm with you all the way on this one!! It's one thing getting on with your life and something else being responsible for EVERYTHING. I'm sure others will come in with advice on the fridge freezer but there are some companies which say they will refund the difference if you find it cheaper anywhere else. I've got a problem with mine and I'm told it's because it's an automatic defrost model. I have to find a repairer who will deal with those, as not all will. You might bear that in mind when you buy your new one? Good luck! xx |

| You can do it by yourself hun and you will feel such a sense of achievement when you do! But don't forget there are so many friends here on wiki - just away and someone will help. A lot of the so-called 'husband' things are easily answered by some of the chaps (and ladies too!!) on here so don't be frightened to ask for help xx | ||

| Actually, I don't think you can go too wrong buying a fridge freezer. Do you want a bigger freezer, or a bigger fridge? In the end, it's going to be your decision and that is something which is empowering. (Avoid the Beko ones, or whatever they are called) I don't have any further advice! I had to make a similar decision about 7 months ago and bought an 'El Cheapo' brand I had never heard of. It's a bit small, but that's okay - there's only me, and it works just fine. You can't go wrong, really... | ||

| Ascatfish, there are lots of forums where kind people will give you advice on this. It is relatively easy to google these. There is some essetial maintence that you stbx probably didn't tell you about re: cleaning out etc. I'm certainly no expert on this. But, I Know people you can consult with and from my own experience it could save you a packet, do pm me for the phone number, you can always just use the advice. All best wishes, Woody | ||
