We all worry that our exes are reading what we write here but i think it serves them right of they spy on us. They won't get any joy from seeing how much they hurt us & wont get any joy if they read what we are en­title­d to on divorce!
If there was a fee for this site I would have to leave too, £10 is a lot of money to me, i can barely pay my top up rent each month!

Oh a joining fee. Friends Reunited went free so no fees. Same with Facebook. I do think that whoever set up this site did it because they cared or had been through the hurt and turmoil themselves and wanted to put back into society something they took out. I look at the desparation on this site. Straw clutching, advice seeking, losing children,losing houses and legal bills the size of my telephone number.I give my advice for what its worth FOC and so do others. I take advice and take it gratefully in the way it is given. The one thing that Ive realised is that I am not alone in my desparation for answers. So I thank those who have given me their ''opinion'' and pointed me in directions never suggested by my solicitor.
What I am sure I dont need is another bill and I am even more sure that there are those out there who are living well below the breadline. After advice on this site I was able to formulate a much more powerfull stance against my X and it scared her exactly what her actions meant. She thought that she was sitting pretty until I got advice here. SO thank you whoever you are for making this site free. And if I am not to be corrected you have probably saved LIVES by supporting others . Ive read the desparation posts. Ive seen the slight uplift in some. The day they stop posting either their lives will have ended or their lives will have got a whole lot better. Take care Polar

Seriously I would prefer to pay a one off sub­script­ion. I think £5 would be sensible maybe ? I think you should still be able to read the posts but not add to them without subscribing. That way those peeps who cannot afford to join can still benefit from the advice given to others.

As I understand it there is a percentage of the revenues from the 'low cost divorce services' which is fed back to the site administration. And presumably NFLP pays a some kind of referral fee for the more complex clients?

I too don't like the idea of advertising. Cheapens the whole thing. Joining fee sounds prohibitive for some, and therefore won't work - works against Ian's original ethos. But I think a paypal 'donate' button is a good idea, and really easy to implement. Quite frankly, I would go to war for this website. It continues to help me massively, and being party to all this empathy, support and advice is an absolute privilege. I would be happy to donate, if it would go towards helping others.

I agree. Who said there is no advertising on the site. It is discreet. Yes donations would be better. A website is never free. Someone has to pay for it somehow. But as posts show most posts are from people in some financial morasss and any sub would make them turn to other sites which are free but not nearly as good. And I will say again. Im sure it has saved lives so Wikivorce team be proud of that. THANK YOU polar

I think that the information aimed at men is marginal at best, even now I wonder whether there is much worth being here.
If I had to pay I would not bother.
By all means introduce a fee and make it a site dedicated to women and divorce.

The site is aimed at, and is for, both men and women. It always has been, and was set up by a man.

The wiki-library has information there relating to men and fathers - please feel free to add your own ­link­s and contributions to the library - it can be found by under the"Free Resources" tab at the top of the page. When you say information - is there something specific that you feel is missing?

Most of the site's major forum contributours are men - and there are a high number of men who use the chatroom, and contribute via the chatroom.

During the 10 months or so that Ive been here, Ive receieved support and advice from both sexes - I dont see your point that the site info is "marginal" for men.

As regards the joining fee, its something that I know has been thought about, as has the "Donate Now" via Paypal button. By keeping the site free for all, it means that no-one feels they cant access the wealth of information, advice and suppoprt that Wiki is renowned for.

Divorce is costly enough, without extra site-joining fees (Jules, I have taken your points on board - but these are my own )
