As I've been on Wikki for over a year now I see questions posted about subjects that myself and others were asking in the past being posted now by newcomers as one would expect as their divorce is just beginning.
Would it be possible to list post answers to questions under subject .There's a fantastic wealth of information that has been inputed by members but it is not retrieavable I don't think.perhaps I'm wrong and it is accessible already under a subject query in the search box? eg consent orders in search box...will it bring up old posts on that subject?

I heartily agree , but don't know what the answer is.

There is an enormous amount of valuable information here but I have just tested it, and searched the forum under Form E, as if I were a Newbie wanting advice, and of course any post that mentions form e comes up.

Too much to wade through so it's just easier I expect to post a question.

The problem is made worse as people using the forums here are often using forums for the first time.
It is considered good practice before posting a question in forums to search the forums first as your question may already have been answered. On some sites people posting a question that has already been answered elsewhere in the forums will be pointed to the correct thread.
Another problem is posting off topic so valuable information is hidden deep in a thread about 1 thing that ended up becoming something else.
Given the wealth of information already here the forum structure gives some idea of where to start looking, the search box will bring up all posts that contain the words or phrase your looking for.

We need a good FAQ thread (Frequently asked questions) Under headings such as:

Will I lose my house.

Pensions

Children

etc; etc;. Maybe each subject is blanket covered by a list of about 12 FAQ's.

When signing up, new users should be advised to refer to FAQ section before posting.

perhaps in the short term (if it's easy enough - I know nothing about website building) a pop up for new posters asking questions that says something like "Have you searched the forum yet as the answer to your queston may well have been posted already ?"

A well known site ending in fool does this.

This is a bit like the request for a FAQ, basically, all the answers are in here somewhere, you just can't find them. Amanda is right that no two people's circumstances are the same and that's why anyone would be stupid to rely on a FAQ and not to contact a solicitor to discuss specifics.

However, I'd like to be able to ask my solicitor sensible questions when I ring through ­base­d on having thought about my question a bit first.

Some of Amanda answers to very good questions are excellent and do contain enough general info to help people like me who only finally agreed to start the divorce process last night with an idea of what's going on / what might happen. Unfortunately, the answers are well and truly burried under a mountain of new posts.

Would it be possible for some of the really good "general priciples" answers to get posted into the wiki - we could search it by subject that way - maybe even more the wiki from the resource menu to the community menu too.

The gen on this site is becoming as lost as that provebal needle in a haystack !
