I dont understand how any person with any self respect can go chasing someone for pension they had earned before the marriage. If this is allowed, then the law is an ass.

The point is really that if someone had any assets before married , are they taken into account or not . I dont see why the equity in my property should be taken into account if his pension is not!

Either all of it should be taken into account or whatever each owned before married should be kept by them , and to be fair this should mean property or pensions .

In my case I had considerably more equity than my stbx and he had more pension . It wouldnt be fair now to share out our equity equally but for him to keep all his pension for himself , would it?

I dont actually want any of his pre-married pension but I do want an increased share of our equity now , to reflect my increase at the start .

You sound very balanced and reasonable, Shiny....wish you were my STBX !! I had property and a pension fund accrued over 23 years before I married her. She brought only debts for me to pay off. Now she is chasing me for half of everything ....even what I had before I married her. No wonder men arent getting married anymore.
