HOW IS THE PENSION DIVIDED UP? 2 Months ago
|
|
Hi After a bit of advice. Married 19 years no children just got our cetv back. His 146k mine 49k. The only other asset is the fmh which I am in at the moment and that has 88k after mortgage taken off.(He living with gf) He is 43 and a policeman, I am 42. Should I get an actuary report done on his pension or is that about right for his 19 years service and what share could i expect to getof the assets. Thanks

Hi there
You should always get an actuarial report on a police pension. The way the provider calculates the CETV means that in more cases than not a devaluation occurs.
In terms of the division, the court is likely to look at an equalisation of the pensions (which the actuary will advise on in terms of how to acheive equalisation).
Regarding the housing, it would appear that his housing needs are thus far met, so concentration will be given on meeting yours. This does not mean you would receive all the equity, but what you would receive will be dependent on needs.
