Is mediation different from collaborative family law? I am new to all this and want to start the process off, but unsure which route to take (ie. court or collaboration). We have been to marriage guidance, but I fould out 3 weeks ago that he had been having an affair while we were going to the councillor! I am sure that he has made up his mind that our marriage is over, and has moved out, so I want to start divorce proceedings. I am fed up with being controlled by him and want to take the initiative for once!
Do solicitors basically do the same thing for you which ever route you take? I am concerned that my stbx would take control of any collaborative process and be better at arguing his case than me. Does this concern have any foundation or will the solicitor be there to 'run the show', either in court or in collaboration?
Is collaboration definitely cheaper and more amicable? Is it better for the children?
Any views/advice would be gratefully received.
