Good grief... your story is even worse than mine, so what the heck am I moaning about?

It's absolutely disgusting the way victims are treated. It seems that it's easier to punish the victim again than it is to bring justice.

I was also removed from the marital home by the police when my sister phoned them to tell them I was being attacked with a knife. They didn't take my husband away though.

I thought I was going to hospital again, but was dumped off at a hotel for the night, which cost me £75, when I should have been taken to casualty because my face needed stitching. The police told me they were needed "up the town" because it was a busy Friday night and they didn't have time to tend to my needs.

I tell ya, I'll never ever get married again - it's just me and my cats from now on. At least when I come home from work I don't have to worry about what kind of mood they're in or worry about whether I'll end up being beaten up because I didn't serve them the right meal for tea.

I'm disgusted that you were charged nearly £18,000 for your ex husband's costs - were you able to get away with that, or did you really pay it? Good grief, what is this world coming to when a victim is victimised by the law?

I had the chance to Contest it; then the judge said if I did it could increase with the costs of contesting it. I paid it from my late-mums inheritence.

The reason I didn't leave the house earlier? My husband asked me to stay. Begged me to: His soliciotrs wanted rid of me though! Long story; there was a long thread somewhere here.....

My friends said I was "Loyal" for staying. The Judge said I was "stubborn"

My husband booked Relate. His sols cancelled. My husband booked Mediation; his sols cancelled. My husband asked for reconcilliation; his sols "encouraged him" to make an application for Divorce. I told the judge my ex was unwell; and needed help (Doctor had sent him to a pyschiatrist) his sols cancelled that also.

They are members of Resolution; and they act this way!

It's funny you should mention that about your solicitor cancelling your mediation, because mine did that too. He said it wasn't worth it. But now I see it was just another of his ways to increase my costs so he could try to 'resolve the matter' himself, even though he didn't, rather than go to mediation which would have been far cheaper.

Grrr..... if only I knew then what I know now!

And Guess what Mr Blah Blah advised my wife not to engage in mediation. Perhaps the Resolution Code of Practice is a cryptic language that us lesser mortals don't understand.

Hello Arnie... I have no idea actually. I've only just heard of Resolution. It's something I might just check out.

I think I might also have been wise to have joined a forum such as this during the divorce to learn information, rather than wait until afterwards.

Hindsight and all that.

The one thing I've learned about divorce is that it's bad enough to never try marriage again.
