New girlfriend..... whats your view ?? 3 Months, 1 Week ago

My wife wanted a divorce last December and we haven't lived together since March 1st. Divorce JUST started last week (which I ended up starting as she NEVER done what she said she wanted !! - she admits she is a coward !).
Anyway, I now have a gorgeous new girlfriend who is a divorcee of 2 years. She has her own house and full time job and a lovely family around her (don't understand why she got married 1st time - as she has said herself !!). My concern is that after the whole divorce process and when we have agreed finacnial split etc... can my stbx come back for more money after the decree absolute IF I start to co-habit with my new girlfriend AFTER the decree absolute ?? (I know it causes probs if I co-habit before dercee absolute).

Depending on how you finalise the financial split, but as long as you have a consent order drawn up and passed by the court detailing a clean break from anything other than spousal maintenance then you should be ok.
The wording of the consent order is therefore all important. Even if it costs to get an order passed through the court and to get a solicitor to cast their eye over it, it will be well worth the money to know your future assets, house etc are safe.
The only thing that will then be relevent if SM is involved is your salary (and your new partner's position, purely to show that you have shared living costs etc.)
Hope this helps.
Regards, Sarah
