Hi Madge55
May i ask what the factor in the petition was.
But for now, i does not stop the divorce it will waste time and cost your husband lots more money its almost immposable to defend divorce though its a legal right a bit more background imfo will help

Hi Madge55
Are you sure hes defending or just not accepting the UB has he given service sighned the petition without accepting your reasons, even if he does defend he cant stop you if you have decided the marriage is over and cant be saved it will just add time and cost him more.

If one of you has decided they want a divorce then basically in all likelihood it's going to happen. I think Dukey's advice is pretty sound on this one.
I am self representing and have been defending the divorce as stated by Dukey it's my right to do so.
We both conceded (unlike you?) that the marriage has come to an end. My bone of contention is that has my W has made allegations in her petition which refer to things between me and the children which im deeply unhappy about.
If i continue to defend she will seek for me to pay all her legal costs. She has engaged a solicitor in this matter since July 2004 so therefore her legal costs are going to huge and financially i cant stand all these costs. In all probability she will get her divorce regardless of what i do. So now 3 petitions on it is going to happen. Things have got fairly complicated and not all because of me defending.
Divorce brings out the worst in most us and we all do and say things in the heat of the moment which we often sadly regret. Which is were i suspect your H is coming from. He's still hurting and really cant accept the inevitable.
If he has a Sol? he will get advised not to bother defending. There is little point if one of you isn't happy effectively the marriage has ended.
Sounds like he's still in the denial stage.
