Just to add my pennyworth. Im in a similar situation but not as far advanced. Dangers seem to lie everywhere. If its cash it goes poof. Unless you can prove otherwise. Spent in gambling is Ive heard a great excuse. Mine is buying ''needed' items like new car , conservatory, cosmetic surgery. None of which are 'needed' . Oh we can prove where money has gone but... I needed a holiday because of stress etc. Oh it had to be an expensive one. Sorry to say thats the situation Im in.

Hi, my husband's doing exactly the same thing. It makes me so mad knowing that he's buying his 'girlfriend' expensive presents and taking her out on money that we should have been saving for our future.

Anyway, thank you for brining up this subject, I watch with interest people's comments, although I strongly suspect that this is a situation where 'crime' does pay. I too intend being 100% honest about my outgoings.

I won't even begin to detail what my stbx has been spending money on -- suffice it to say that online pharmaceuticals and luxury items of an (ahem) erotic nature are involved ... as well as 1000s on computer widgets and games.

But he is too poor (on benefits) to contribute anything to the kids... and reckons he NEEDS more than half the assets ..

Hmmm. On the other side of the coin, I like you have been open and honest about my finances ... and like my lawyer says, clearly have a very dull life going by my bank statements.


BTW I think the case I had in mind is Vaughan vs Vaughan .. he was an airline pilot who gambled away a lot of money post separation I believe.
