Hi,
I went straight to GP about 4 days after leaving the evil SOB. I was given tamazipan (10 tablets). 3 Weeks later I have taken 3 - simply to stop the waking at 2am with hysterical crying and anger. I only took 3 becuase yes they are increadibly addictive. Trust me I would have taken the whole lot and then gone back for more - they are great! But I knew if I did that I would be in real trouble. I would highly reccommend getting something - ask for only a week's worth like me, but only do it if you know you can stop. For me it was just having 2 nights of unbroken sleep and I could start to see clearly again. I have kept the others for emergencies - like solicitors letters - grrrr!

Hi,
I had some really awful sleep problems a few weeks back, very unusual for me BTW, kept waking up repeatedly through the night (every hour?) and ending up feeling lousy for the following day. Decided enough was enough and went to the doctors and was prescribed sleeping pills. However, it didn't really work for me as I was too aware of possibly becoming dependent on them to get me to sleep. By chance I remembered ex's herbal pills (Kalms Sleep), took a few and they worked really well for me, also I don't have the worry of getting hooked.
Just my thoughts
Take care

Hi,
Just wanted to make a comment reference St Johns Wort.
Caution needs to be taken if you are on any other medication as St Johns Wort can have an effect and lessen the effectiveness.
Please consult your GP if you are thinking of taking any Herbal Remedies if on any other medication.
As for lavender oil, this is a good natural remedy to aid a restful night, but don't use too much or the effect can be counter productive.
You can buy lavender products, like pillows and room sprays that may help too.

Would the pharmacist know if these herbal remedies can be taken with my tablets? I am on tricylic anti-d's. I might try nytol maybe if I can before considering anything else. I will try to avoid sleeping tablets I think.

hi maysie
I have been reading through this thread and there are many helpful suggestions. Sleep problems are a normal part of adjusting and healing, but make it difficult to cope when they go on for long.
I would just like to make the really important point that sleeping tablets are not the same as antidepressants. Often depression is characterised by sleep disturbance as are anxiety, grief reactions and alcohol use. If you have depression then treating an underlying depression eventually helps your sleep pattern improve. Sometimes sleeping tablets are used briefly until the antidepressants kick in at 1-2 weeks.
Anti-depressants are generally not addictive. If you are worried about this point then do talk with your GP rather than stop taking the medication without saying anything.
This is not to say everyone going through all this hurt needs medication to do it, but it is very helpful for some.
