Marital Assets/Debt - i.e her debts and my assets 1 Month, 1 Week ago

Joint-owners of house with equity in total of around £70,000 to split.
Co-owners for 6 years and married for 2. No children.
She has personal debts of -£45,000 which I didn't know about
I have personal assets of £5,000 plus I lent her £6,000 to pay off some debts.
Now she is saying that I will take on half of her debts.
Is this true? It as all spent by her without my knowledge plus she earns more than me.

Hi there
Unlikely - depends what she used the money for. In short marrages without children, you usually take out what you bring in plus half of any marital profit.

Many thaks for that.
In short, we have a joint account that we have used for mortgage, food, bills, etc.
As far as the house goes, we got additional funds on the mortgage to do the kitchen and buy most of the furnitue.
Her money problems started long before us and went on her hobbies, new cars every year, gadgets, and interest and bank charges.
I 'lent' her £6k a few months ago to pay off store cards and credit cards to break her out of the cycle and am aware that I've little chance of seeing that money again.
My next issue is we need a new bathroom before selling the house and of course she has no savings and rather large monthly loan committments.
I didn't know if I could cover this off or say goodbye to that money too?
Would hate to seem money orientated but it had confused me over the years how someone who earned £5,000pa more than me, never had any savings.
