Sharing future debts 3 Months, 3 Weeks ago

Hi everyone We were on the verge of completing the consent order but ex has decided that he wants me to pay half of any debts on our joint bank account until the sale of the house. He is living with another woman who doesnt work, and therefore is constantly taking out loans with the bank. This is a situation he created and I didnt want him to go (married nearly 27 years). We still have a joint bank account, which I dont use, and he puts his salary into that. Can he have a clause put into the consent order that I share any debts until the house is sold, even after we have divorced? Have been trying to get divorced for 3 years and every time we reach agreement he changes his mind and then takes out another loan. I feel trapped and it seems to be going on forever. I got the nisi June last year. Should I ask the bank to take my name off the joint account, which I dont use? He is really saying that if I dont share his debts he wont help with the bills and mortgage. We are going round in circles with him constantly borrowing money. Not sure what to do to protect myself and he doesnt seem to want to come to any conclusion. Has anyone else been in this situation, or any thoughts. Thanks

Hi there
I would not recommend you put this in a consent order - if he runs up a large debt between now and the sale you could find yourself facing a liability that you have consented to share.
I would suggest you close the joint account. If there are joint expenses I would suggest that you pick which account they are coming out of and the other shoud pay their contribution into that account pending sale.
