My solicitor has informed me that we have to prepare a narrative affadavit for the FH. What exactly is it and what information do I have to put in there for the judge to help my case? If anyone can help me it would be great.Thanks in advance.

A narrative affidavit is so called because it contains narrative rather than the bare figures that you will have so far submitted. The best way to think of it is putting flesh on the bones of the case - it is designed to bring your case alive for the judge so that he can fully understand where you are coming from with your position.

this might be useful to me for later, would you be so very kind and elaborate on this question.
As from what i can gather from your post, in the affidavit you can outline what you would consider relevant, does this cover financial contributions from the start of the marriage, contributions made during, abuse etc.

You can only cover anything that has had a financial impact, so yes, you go through contributions, and financial ineptitude etc. In terms of abuse, in many cases this does have a financial impact on your ability to work or in other financial ways, and if so this should be covered.

It is hard to give general advice as obviously each affidavit is case specific, but you basically just need to start by figuring out what your position is, break it down in to categories that you should put in under sub headings, and then be as specific as you can as to the financial effects.

For instance, if you did a subheading "Contributions of the Applicant" then under that you can do a paragraph or two as to what you contributed, from where, and what you did with it, e.g.:

In 2005 the Applicant received £50,000 from her mother's estate. This money was utilised to build an extension to the property which otherwise could not have been afforded. The extension has caused the property to increase in value by £75,000. The Applicant therefore seeks that this £75,000 is ringfenced from consideration due to it being borne solely from her contribution.

In 2007 the Applicant received £80,000 from her father's estate. This money remains untouched in the Halifax account numbered XXXX. The Applicant seeks that this £80,000 is ringfenced from consideration, it being her sole contribution from her father's estate.

Then at the end of the subheading, tot it up so your final parapgraph in that bit would say:

Accordingly the Applicant has contributed £130,000 to the matrimonial assets, which is now worth £155,000 in real terms. The Applicant seeks that this £155,000 is ringfenced and awarded to her for her sole benefit.
