Getting an affidavit sworn in Germany 3 Months, 1 Week ago
Hi all

Not sure where to ask this question - so just trying here!

I live in Germany and the divorce proceedings will be in UK.

There are affidavits and other docs from me which need to "sworn".

Does anyone know who can do this in Germany?

Hi shuggie,

Fiona is right : on the Continent, documents are sworn at the office of a notary public - in your case a 'Notariatsbüro'.
They may ask for the documents to be translated into German.

Thank you both - I was coming to the same conclusion myself!

Had hoped for something else, because I know that the "Notare" charge an arm and a leg. Still, if it must be...

Found a useful ­link­ for anyone else seeking this info in Germany:

You can find those who understand enough English to be able to "swear" without translating the documents.
