This is a very fundamental point.

A Shared Residence order will be made if it reflects what is happening on the ground. If it isn't, it won't be.

"I want Shared Residence" won't get you very far. "I propose this arrangement because it is best for little johnny, because it is practical, because it takes in to account x, y, z" is what the Courts are interested in hearing. And rightly so. And a Shared Residence order will follow if appropriate.
