You have hit the nail on the head - what is the point of having a rules-­base­d system and then not penalising people for breaking the rules? Our District Judges are too ready to "let it ride" when somebody over-runs a time limit or fails to do something.

And a penal notice should attract a REAL penalty! BTW, sounds like you are/were in the Police arf arf.

If FPR state 12 months bank statements should be included in Form E, then surely the Solicitor should be saying I NEED 12 months bank statments I can't just send 3 months and until you give me them, then we are no further forward, if I keep delaying and sending bits of information here and there then its going to cost you an awful lot of money in the long run and you could be liable for the other sides costs if you dont keep to the FPR. If we all adhered to the rules then surely it would never take years to get all this sorted.

Agreed with almost everything u said, and as u observed 'most people have been through a hell of a lot!' Hope that includes those of us who hav chosen the collaborative route - if u think solicitors letters are stressful, try facing ur ex over a cup of coffeee and biccies!! Not easy, but in my opinion, can achieve a lot more tangible results than open warfare - think u'v been there, so know wot I'm talking about! Ps hav enjoyed ur contributions, keep them coming x

As I said before, 'What can I say?' or perhaps I should say 'What I can I say to be sure you will listen?'. Having read most of your posts, I have no doubts that you have had your fair share of frustrations and disappointments - but please remember that we aLL have! I too have experienced infidelity, lies and deceit etc etc. but I have learnt a very valuable lesson - you have to move on and make the best of the situation you find yourself in, otherwise you will destroy yourself!
BTW the reason I have not been on-line for a day or so is not brecause I have felt intimidated by thie comments on this thread - rather, i have been preoccupied with real-life events relating to work and employment. having discovered my 'independent spirit' I now seem to be facing redundancy and the real problem of paying rent and bills! Many will now question my decision to leave a comfortable existence with my s2bx but I am certain that i've made the right decision! I'm not complaining - honestly!

You sound so much like my own solicitor I want to give u a big hug (BTW she's female, so I can, and I do! )

'K' has been amazing - listened to my version of events, given me sound legal advice, most of which i've taklen but the most important thing for me is that she has always respected my point of view!

Both our solicitors have worked to minimise financial difficulties (I'll not bore u with details, but more info to anyone if requested!) and have always worked on the premise of 'no blame, no shame'. If we had wanted, both parties could have quoted 'unreasonable behaviour' i suppose, but this was not necessary, we were encouraged to work towards a solution rather than fighting the bit out in court - no need for costly correspondence and court appearances! We both trusted our solicitor's advice and whilst I don't want to appear smug, sometimes it does pay to compromise!! Any solicitor's fees incurred are openly recognised and will be paid for asap - good job, well done we say!
