I just don't understand how this partnership with NFPL will work to secure Wikivorce's future - how will Wikivorce derive income from it?
My aim is for Wikivorce to be self-sufficient financially to cover most of the costs for IT/admin/customer support required to deliver a better and better free service to all our members.

Wikivorce will derive some modest income (hopefully eventually enough to cover its costs) through offering low priced DIY and Managed Divorces using the same model as other online divorce companies. NFLP doing the legal/admin work. Wikivorce doing the IT.

- We won't charge membership fees.
- You don't have to pay a single penny to use the site.
- We won't carry pointless / unsuitable ads.
- We won't do £1.50/minute legal help lines
(instead you can ask free Qs via forum or chat)

Wiki offer a fantastic service and in their defence i need to make a few points:

We choose to subscribe to this FREE service.

We also choose whether or not to take advantage of the FREE half hour consultation.

If WE then choose to take up the services of the NFLP we have made the decision of our own free will.

Wiki may be "not for profit", but they will have bills to pay. Salaries, staionary rent furniture and every other expense a business faces.

If they have to agree certain partnerships with providers to pay those bills, then so be it.

Most of us come to Wiki in truly desperate situations.

The fact that Wiki do not take advantage of how desperate the people are on this site by charging all sorts of hidden charges us truly commendable. I can think of a thousand other organisations who take advantage of desperate people and their position in the market place. This cannot be said of Wiki.

You guys rock and the rest of society should follow your example. Sadly capitalism will never allow it.

Once again i will say this is a fantastic site, wiki you have worked dam hard to provide us with this site and info and best of all i have found so many new friends.It is truley a god send wish it was here when i first started out, and another good thing is i am not obligated to sign up and pay for anything, and when i have simply had enough i can shut my computer down and leave it at that.Divorce lawyer you have a great sense of humour.

One more thing, sorry but i am livid that this discussion is even taking place........

A quick calculation, it may not add up to everyone:

Total Users: 15302

Total Messages: 24486 (Divide the total messages with total users. This will bring you to an average amount of 1.6.

Assume then that every wikivorce user has asked 1.6 questions.

A solicitor who charges £150.00 per hour would have charged in 6 minute units or part thereof. Therefore 1 unit at £150.00 = £15.00

The total unit s for 1.6 messages is £24.00 per 1.6 questions

Multiply £24.00 by the 15302 users and you will get to £367,248 worth of FREE advice dispensed with by this site.

I would say that it is probably a lot more than that, but my calculation is at very short notice.

Not read any of this thread as I haven't the time and i have a good imagination. Wikivorce should have payment gateways for donations. You creator should be receiving money for his foresight and vision and technical expertise. It could be rationally argued that contributors could be specifically targeted for donations.

Get a grip people money makes the world go round, and people like Carnegie and Wikivorce and the contributors who make wikivorce are exactly the right people to receive that money and re distribute that wealth!
