I believe that until some system or organisation is put in place to replace the adversarial nature of divorce then nothing will change.

It seems to be accepted by the majority that divorce and contact issues will be a battlefield and paranoia sets in pretty quickly

I also believe that life would be much easier if financial and childrens issues should be seperated in some way because it would prevent the kids becoming pawns in the middle of 2 warring parents.

There was talk some years ago of a "cooling off" period of a year following separation where parties had to attend mediation and sort out finances and contact. What happened to this!!

I am in no way anti solicitors or the courts I just feel (maybe naively) there must be another way.

Is collaborative law a device to achieve this?

Collaborative Law, has to be seen as a positive step, but until the legal profession can start to DEAL with its dirty laundry all the good things they do are out weighed by the CORRUPT PROFESSIONALS of which there are quite a few.
The politicians realised this as a problem with the Legal professionals responsibilities in the proceeds of crime act.
Professional used to mean something once but alas, for far too many professionals it is just a Marketing Term.

I think one huge flaw in the divorce system in the famously useless Court Order. Your solicitor draws it all up after lots of argument, and money, it is then stamped by the judge, and after that nothing can be done to make either party comply with it. Unless of course you have the money to take it back to court!!! What a futile system, the Court order should be monitored and parties should be made to comply by the court system. Solicitors have no clout whatsoever with that court order, but do they tell you that, no they just let you instruct them to write letter after letter, and get absolutely nowhere.
This has got to change. A judge has ordered, so be it.
It is a legal document, but one of the most commonly flouted pieces of paper, if you read the posts on Wiki alone.

You are entirely correct Zara2008. Had I known that I was wasting £25,000 and my ex £40,000 on totally useless toilet paper I would not have bothered.
To enforce the contact order would quite simply have dragged my children through even more of these elitists money go round games where the children are just about the last consideration.

Scary: Sorry, not the intention unless you are one of the many corrupt elites that have STOLEN the words Justice and professional for a perversion of the truth with the explicit aim of making MONEY.
Their days are numbered as the people now have a voice and despite their feeble attempts to curb the power of the internet they cannot stop it, as it has a profound energy all of its own.
