free school meals - just having a rant 3 Months ago
Applied recently for WTC/CTC read somewhere that might be entitled to free school meals. So applied for the application form (still waiting on decission re tax credits)but would expect to qualify.
Application form for free school meals advises me (1) you can claim if you are on income support working 16 hours a week and earning under £15250 per year if you are claiming CTC only. (2) however if you are claiming WTC/CTC you cant claim.
I work 23 hours and my total income plus tax credits is going est £14000 but as WTC claimed i dont qualify.
So really someone working less hours than me earing more and claims CTC only can get free school meals for kids.
Trying to reduce my outgoings at the moment and having a rant at the system. Seems i miss out on everything, including legal aid
Would only save about £30 a month but could have went to pay for something else. lawyers bills when they start arriving
My moan for the day over.

I would still try any way as you are under the income they state .Mind you they are good making sure primary school children get their meal everyday once there in high school forget it noone cares if the child has had a meal or not.
