Hi Debbie
First of all, the contents of your last post mean clean break - it was written by lawyers, who of course have to use 50 words not two.
Secondly, I am amazed at how many financial cases involve "loans" from family, which doesnt consist of anything in writing, and usually one party cannot recall it - strange that, isnt it?
Thirdly - this has nothing to do with your divorce - it will not upset your financial applecart so to speak, so do not worry about it.
Forthly - they can try and take civil proceedings against you. However, this will involve them spending money on a court issue fee, so consider that and contemplate if they would do so. If they are frankly stupid enough to issue proceedings they are going to have to have proof of the loan, the agreement to repay the monies and the fact you have knowledge of it - they have none of that, and there is a little rule in law that says "he who asserts must prove".
I really would not concern yourself about this - they are involving themselves in something that has nothing to do with them and trying to bully you. However, someone can only bully you if you allow them. To use a very non legal phrase....tell em to get stuffed!!!!!
