 I was going to move on from being critical of the court system and yelling out for reform for two minutes when the latest email update from Family Law Week popped into my inbox yesterday.

 Always keen to keep up with what is going on in my little family law world (i.e being nosy) I duly logged on and started whizzing through the updates as usual.

Not having much to do, and because I was looking for law on something I was working on, I ventured into "Judgements".

The tenth programme of law reform was published last week by the Law Commission (see http://www.lawcom.gov.uk/docs/lc311.pdf).  This is the paper that tells us what areas the Law Commission is going to be looking at next and when we can expect the resulting report telling us whether they think reform is necessary and if so, what reform is recommended.

 So...any offers on what area of family law is top of the reform agenda?  Contact?  Removal from the Jurisdiction perhaps?  Ancillary Relief? 

Well, no.  Amazingly top of the reform agenda is.....pre-nups.

Did you read it? Did you see it?  Well, yet another judge has hit out about the family justice system declaring family courts out of touch (see here http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/law/article4144440.ece).

Good old Mr Justice Ryder.  Drawn from chambers in Manchester and being the senior judge for the Northern Circuit he doesnt hold back his punches.  Whether his calls will be heard by the great and the good, and even if heard, whether they will do anything, is another matter.  But good on him for having the courage to yell.

 So is the family justice system out of touch?  OMG
