Today was a very sad day.  One of my friends from our village was buried this morning and the village church was full for his memorial service.

 A man of huge intellect and knowledge on any subject you could imagine.  He is such a  loss to us all.  He died in a shooting accident almost two weeks ago.  The church was full with I suppose 200 - 300 people from the various parts of his life.

He leaves a wife and two sons who are strapping fellows.  And he leaves us all missing him.  It is never right for a father to be burying his son.

What is it with these emotions? I have just spent the last few weeks feeling positive about the future, when suddenly today I wake up flat, empty and numb. It is bewildering. There has been no crisis or legal wrangling; no contact problems or emotional manipulation. Just me.

I think I might prefer anger or anxiety (not sure it's true, but today I do think that). You can see what you're up against then; they have substance, something to oppose. This feels like fog closing round me; I can't see where it has come from or where I will emerge. My goals have disappeared and there is nothing to rant

I think that many of the blog entries I've been writing, and the comments being received, are serving only to re-enforce one thing... that my wife and I are incompatible.

You see, one of the biggest things that I notice is the level of moaning that goes on in our household. She'll use many situations to have a moan, and I'll moan at her for having a moan.

Take this morning... I'm in the bedroom looking out of the window at the rain coming down, and she's in front of the mirror doing her make up...
