I keep having this recurring dream. I am in the middle of the North Sea, it is night time, and all around me is pitch-black. The water is freezing, and there is only the sound of the sea. I am treading water, but the sea keeps pulling me under, I am sinking.
I wait for someone to come and rescue me, but I do not hear the sound of the search and rescue copter, or the coastguard's vessel. They will come soon, I say to myself, someone must know where I am. Still I wait, fighting the waves as they attempt to take me with them. Still, there is no-one to save me. I am exhausted, and the cold water has taken its toll on my strength. I realise that no-one is coming to save to me, and that the only person who can save me from drowing is me. Slowly, I start to make my way through the black icy-cold sea twards dry land.
Of course, when you think about it, that the only person who can save you is yourself. It is blindly obvious. But all too often, I fail to see what is staring me in the face. I am an amazing woman (although not as amazing as Rosiegirl, but that is something I aspire to!), I am intelligent, funny, sexy, generous, caring and a damn good cook. I am a devoted and loving mother, daughter, sister and friend. But sometimes all that is just obvious, and it is easy not to see it because i am wallowing in self-pity and self-doubt, and again, the obvious blinds me. I do not mind the self-pity and doubt from time to time, it proves that I am human, cut me open and you will see that I am of flesh and blood, not ice.
I need to open my eyes more, and look at what I am and what I ahve in my life. I am so damned lucky, and because that is obvious, I am sometimes blinded by it.
Its sink or swim time, Housewife, and the only person who can save you is you. Better start swimming for dry land, girl.

Ruby! you talking about me! think you must be getting me mixed up with someone else  Thank you, you are very kind. I'm glad to see that you are seeing the good things about yourself, there are plenty. And I'm sure you are a strong swimmer |

Ruby, I am just blowing up my armbands too You are so right! It is up to us to save ourselves, and we have so much more going for ourselves than we sometimes think. We just need someone to remind us from time to time. Should have been our STBX's or Ex's job, but that's why we are here! Deep breath and go for it! Mike |
