Hair cuts!Posted by Itgetsbetter in my day today, good day, children |
I've not blogged for a while. Life has been very busy and on the whole settled. The new house feels like home, the children are happy. Have not even had too much hassle from the ex! The minor hassle I had this monring made me realise how far I have come.
The children are staying with me for the third weekend in a row. We normally alternate weekends but the ex asked me some time ago if I could have the children last weekend, when she would normally have had them because she had a course. It wasn't put forward as a swap - just a request for me to have them, which mean I have them 3 weekns running. It turns out from talking to the children that she wouldn't have been able to swap as she was going out this weekend. So no change from when we were married when I had the kids whilst she swanned off at weekends!
I found out during the week that the ex has arranged for my son to have a haircut at her place today - my son being a vain teenage boy has highlights so it is a reasonably long appointment. The ex had not mentioned it to me, despite it being my weekend with the children, but as he is 16 and can make his own way there, I decided to go with the flow I then find out yesterday that my daughter is also getting her cut at the same time, which will mean I will need to drop her off there. A bit annoying but again I go with the flow.
Then this morning I get a text before 8 saying that the appointment times have changed and are a now earlier, and is that OK? I texted back saying that it is not particularly convenient, but that I'll work round it, and ask if next time she can bother to let me know about appointments in advance rather than me find out from the children with very little notice. I must admit I was a sarcastic in my response pointing out that she is showing the same lack of thought for me that she did when we were together.
Well that was like a red rag to a bull! She calls me ranting at me that she had told me about these hair appointments in August when she booked them (not true). That the only time the children can have their haircut is Saturday (not true - son does only 3 days a week at college and is free 2 days a week, and daugther finishes school at 3 every afternoon). I couldn't get a word in edgeways and she then hangs up! By this time I had gone for a brisk early morning walk in the woods and was feeling very relaxed anyway and it was like water off a ducks back! I just rang back and left a message very calmly stating the facts and suggesting she try and communicate better, and think about other people than herself and her bf.
I then carried on with my walk feeling very calm. It made me realise that her unreasonableness no longer gets to me like it used to.
Have a good day everyone.
