I have been trying to exchange contracts on my house now for what seems like an eternity. It seems like the exchange is continually being thwarted by my buyers, and in particular their solicitors.
First of all the solicitor hadn't validated the mortgage funds correctly, that all got sorted and everything seemed good to go.
Then the buyers went on holiday withour signing their forms, so another delay.
As I was going on holiday the following week I sorted out the signing of my forms and got the ex to sign them and had them lodged with my solicitor ready for exchange whilst I was on holiday.
Then it turned out that the buyers solicitor had not told them they needed to provide a deposit on exchange so it has taken a couple of days to sort that out.
Then today it turns out their solicitor hadn't confirmed details of their insurance so exchange couldn't happen. There was a lot of very irritated people trying to push it through and the solicitor was being totally unhelpful and wouldn't make any effort to contact the buyers.....At one point this afternoon I had to go for a walk round the block as I was getting so wound up!
Anyway I am now expecting exchange tomorrow (4 August).....but I won't be surprised if there is another spanner in the works!!
Completion is still due to be the 10 August so it doesn't leave me long to pack and sort out important things like phone lines and broadband connections in the new house!!
So the final piece of the jigsaw in my new life is still on hold due to solicitor's incompetence.....I have had my fill of them over the last year!

Ultimate frustration honey, Just been there myself, and it was my conveyancing solicitors that were being difficult. Drove me crazy, I spent most of my time chasing my own solicitors But it will get sorted and I have to say, it is a huge weight off your shoulders once it is done. So stick with it, take some more walks and keep smiling. Take Care of yourself K xx |
