Sunday 19th August - my love statuePosted by fio in Untagged |
Here we go – this is my love analogy – its pretty bloody awful but analogies aren’t my strongest point
I see my relationship as a great big marble statue. When you fall in love is a thing to behold – shiny and new and magnificant, it glints in the sun and blinds passers by with its glory (or something).
As the years go on the lustre fades somewhat, it becomes dull, frost damage starts to take effect, but the core is still strong. At this point a bit of effort and some TLC could bring this statue back to its former glory. The statue is basically sound – more like an old classic statue now. More years pass and more and more surface cracks start to appear, some pieces may slough off the surface (this is when Pat appears on the scene), still a solid base though, would probably need a lot more work to restore now – but still could be done with some effort.
Now we get to the real wammy - the hammer blows to the love statue. The core is strong so one hammer blow it could stand provided it was repaired immediately, but no repairing is undertaken and , bang another blow and the statue has started to crumble, the core is unstable, and whole begins to collapse. Now we get to a lot of smaller blows, which would not have been significant before the big hammer blows had damaged the core, but now they are causing huge chunks to drop off bit by bit until the lovely shiny love statue is reduced to a heap of rocks. So there we have it, my lovely statue in ruins, but to be fair it had got so dull and worn that I hadn’t been taking care of it as I should have been, I had taken it for granted and let it and let it slide into disrepair.
I look around and I see statues out there that are strong but faded, some that are showing lots of wear and tear, some have frost damage, others are spoilt with acid rain, some that have totally collapsed and have been swept away and some out there, very few, are still shiny even years after they have been errected
Good luck to all out there with nice shiny statues and make sure you take good care of then if you want them to last for ever.
I don’t think I will be building another statue in the near future, I stare at the rubble of the old one and I can’t remember what it used to look like, probably some bloke with a fig leaf covering his willy.

Sounds like you definitely want rid, but I guess the cautious option is a 'trial separation'. Then again, you might have rethought the whole thing by now. If you like Jake try his romantic abuse of his partner's family in La Di Dah or his witty misognistic On Again, On again... |
