"I said 'there is no justice' as they led me out the doorPosted by divwiki in Untagged |
And the Judge said, 'this isn't a court of justice, son, this is a court of law." Billy Bragg, "Rotting on Remand".
Went to see my dear old mum who has developed a blood-clot behind the eye. She was telling me she couldn't have anticipated the situation with my x2b either which made me feel a bit better.
However, she doesn't quite get that the law isn't about what is right, ethics and morality, that sort of thing. It's based on need, supposedly. So she is upset that my louse of a spouse is getting anything at all. "She should be paying you" seems to be the familial theme.
The Divorce Calculator says that she should too, as her income is higher than mine, and quotes £250 per month, but I'm not that starry eyed. It doesn't allow for the fact that her higher income is all in benefits, which are also based on "need" of course. It also doesn't allow that I have brought savings into the relationship which the court will no doubt have a view on. Right now I'm inclined to say "never make provision for yourself, it costs you twice" but then we might get a fascist dictatorship in one day and then we'd all be stuffed!
