A little harsher yesterday. It was the first day that using the website hadn't helped - having to, in a virtual sense, get in between two warring factions on the forum felt a little too much like my real marriage for comfort!
My x2b turned up and banged on the window while I was cooking. She'd turned up for her post, dressed to the nines. I said "you look nice, going out?" She claimed that she'd just been to the doctor! She only wears heels when she's going out for a date. Maybe she's started on the doctor at the GU clinic now!
I bit the bullet and made her a verbal offer for settlement. £10K conditional on being a clean break through a consent order ratified by the court. She replied "my solicitor says he can get £15,000." (He actually said that was the upper end of what he could get, according to her at the time.) She also said "why do you want a clean break?" Duh!
Anyway it's up to her if she wants to litigate, but I'll give her the offer in writing so she can show my reasoning to the solicitor. Speaking to someone on the website had helped me solidify my offer, for which I'm grateful.
She noticed I had a bottle of wine with a stopper in it. "Have you been drinking wine on your own?" she asked, with goldfish-wide eyes and her face lit up with the thought that she had helped to create an acoholic (I know that's not possible, by the way.) I just replied "yes, it goes great with pasta." I could have added, you should try it some time instead of chicken nuggets and cheeseburgers.
I'd been to the council and put in my housing application and my begging letter to try and stay in situ. Also spoke to a couple who were petting my dog about whether or not they could take him on if I was evicted. They will think about it.
Saw a rock-climbing programme, it's one of the few things I have never done. Apparently the trick is to concentrate just on the square of rock in front of you, don't look back or too far ahead. Bit like life really...

I can see you are getting your sense of humour back which is always a good sign. All the best people drink wine on their own, including me, though some other good peope drink beer. I like the rose variety though in a real sophiscated mood I go to red. Wine goes with everything (except for rock blimbing) and is great on its own. Must be true says it on lots on bottles. Also like life wine can go off, and be very nasty, then you have to return it to the shop. Pity can't get rid of 'gone off' spouses that easy. |
