So unbelievably it's nearly over. My OH went to court a couple of weeks ago and decided to self rep at this stage as the costs are getting ridiculous. As his ex had completed her form e two days before the court hearing we didn't think we needed the solicitor as there wasn't alot to say. We got advice and my OH went alone. His ex had called a few times in the days leading up to court, although they don't normally talk I think she realised we had information on her and would be using it if she lied on her form e.
to cut a long story short she agreed to our offer of settlement anyway.
We were told that the decree absolute would have to be applied for and then any funds held by laywers could be released and paid to the various parties agreed in the consent order which has the court stamp on it.
However two weeks later nothing has moved. My OH is fustrated about paying bank charges and lawyers fees when he thought it was effectively all over. Does anyone know why the court order wouldnt' be sufficient to release funds? surely we won't need his ex to sign anything else as she took 4 months to complete her first draft of the form e!
We are so close to this all being finally over but I think the strain has got to us both and we don't know how to tie up these loose ends.
On the brighter side we are exchanging on our new house next week but as usual I feel like my good news has been overshadowed by this divorce.
