Went out walking the dog late last night to clear my head and grab a glimpse of the much trailed meteorite shower - not so much as a glimmer; seems to sum up my life at the moment and especially my all too brief marriage. A wonderful day followed by a series of disappointments at least for my wife for some reason. Maybe one day she'll share with me what went wrong, but for now she's just interested in getting cash out of me.
Her idea yesterday was she'll forget the £15K if I'll give up my tenancy and pay her £5k. We set up a meeting with her solicitor and then the council for tomorrow. Today, she is changing her mind again, appears to want more cash but doesn't want to say how much ( just what exactly am I supposed to do with that?)
So, guess what? I'm not going to sign anything at the council tomorrow. If she even turns up...

Jees - what an absolute nightmare - how can either of you move on with her changing her mind every two minutes? I really don't know what to say - apart from try and stay strong, I can see this just dragging on for ever - does she really want a divorce? | |

She says she wants divorce, but seems just interested in the financial settlement. Has just phoned me very annoyed, don't know what the solicitor said to her but she didn't like it. She claims she isn't now going to the Council meeting with us both today. Also that she wants an answer from me on either giving her £5K and sole tenancy or £15K "and whatever"(!) Got most annoyed when I said I wanted to wait and have a solicitor consider my end of any proposal. Thanks for your support, how are you? | |

Sounds to me that what she heard from her solicitor was not what she wanted to hear. She is also not happy that your solicitor will put you in the picture as to what reasonably your position should be. I hope you do not settle anything with her until you have had your own independant legal advice. There's no immediate hurry if she can keep changing her mind. A solution would be for you to make up your mind what's fair and stick to it. Seeing your solicitor will help you do that. Why don't you make the dog's day and sleep in bed and let the dog back on the couch? I am concerned for your health. Shelia |

Thanks, Sheila. I'm not ready to change my sleeping arrangements yet, but it may not be an issue much longer as my x2b has today given notice on the flat so the council should be evicting me reasonably soon. She said that she wasn't going to, then did. Sums her recent behaviour up really. What I don't get is that she keeps saying we have an agreement; I've had to tell her 4 times today that throwing an idea at me to consider is not an agreement! Weird. | |
