My new motto ....never turn down an opportunity to connect. (Does not apply to stbx though)
It's funny how sometimes things happen and you just feel the timing is so spot on, it must mean something. So it seemed very fitting when an e-mail from Friends Reunited popped into my inbox today announcing a profile update on an old friend. We were best friends at school, but have really only exchanged Christmas cards since.
The last few days I have been thinking how much energy it had taken to keep my marriage going. I didn't notice it at the time, in the sense that I have always believed relationships were to be worked at , but now I'm on my own I can't believe how much energy there is left for other things, even though I'm working extra hours and being a single mum/taxi service. One of the costs of my marriage was that so many of my oldest friendships have been badly neglected. So after nearly 30 years my friend and I have exchanged e-mails and we're back in touch. And I don't feel needy, just brimming with friendship (I'm sure wiki helps with that).
It's the same with the house which is now buzzing with kids coming and going calling for mine, which is as I like it to be. Why was it so different back then? He never did anything to stop it; it just wasn't that sort of house then. Now it feels more like the household I grew up in and always wanted it to be.
And another milestone....I had my first invitation today with "+guest" on it. Any offers?

You are finding yourself that's for sure. I have also caught up with old school friends on Friends Reunited which is lovely. I think when we are in a marriage it is so easy to put all of energy and time into pleasing everyone else we forget about ourselves. This is your time now finding. Poppie x |
