to her finance proposal, so now it's back to silence, and to be very honest I don't mind
My big issue now is because she is not getting her own way it seems she takes it out on the kids, she thought I had gone out yesterday morning but I hadn't and could hear her and the kids upstairs bushing teeth I think, then my daughter started to cry becuase her mom has smacked her, now please don't get me wrong here I have done this before but with due recourse to why, she had done it because she wasn't brushing her teeth as told?
Now I haven't said anything as I don't want it to be another slanging match, so how do tell her I know what she did yesterday morning? I know that most of the time she is a good mom but this just isn't on, is it? Am I being to protective?
any help, ideas from you guys on here would be great.
Catch you all soon
Gareth

HI Gareth This is a tricky one. We all get stressed and are sometimes inappropriate with the kids. If she is a good mum as you say - believe me her own conscience will be eating away at her, this is the reality of family breakdown - you intervening wont change anything but will distort that natural remorse. Didnt she work out you were still in when she came downstairrs? that would have been enough - no good parent is ever proud of smacking their kids.... if it happens again just let her know you are there, thats all thats needed. Hi Gareth Been away all weekend - quite helpful for me. Don't know the answer to your problem. I think rasher is about right. We all know when we have overstepped the mark and probably don't need reminding. The bigger point is how are you going to move things forward? It sounds as if you are stuck in a rut and life is muddling along. I wouldn't get too hung up on money at this stage - treat it as a commercial transaction (advised this by a solicitor I met recently who is not acting for me but has been divorced.) You want/need it sorted so you can both move on. More important to get arrangements for the children agreed and then finalise the rest. Good luck mate Bert |
