Well another week has gone by, another overnight with youngest, another lovely night with youngest. I hope it will continue but he seems so content in my house and sleeps soundly despite Ex stating in e-mail that youngest still very unsettled at night. I hope he continues being so contented with me.
Against that eldest is really "off" with me. The invitation is there for him to stay with me too but so far he says no. I hope its his age (13), but he is so much more dismissive of me, much more so than last year. Its heartbreaking to take. Then again he talks to me in the same tone that Ex did for years, I just hope that he grows out of it and that its not in the genes. I been told that he also is having difficulty sleeping. Where did I go so wrong?
Anyway I wont see either of them for a while as they are off on holiday, so a lonely week ahead for me.

I'm very glad that the visit from your youngest went well. It must be great to have him with you. Sorry about the eldest - but it does sound like he's at an age where he may be slightly off with you even in normal circumstances, so living through your separation cant be easy. I am sure that in time things will improve. Best of luck. | |

It's worth repeating that 13 is a tricky age - boys in particular try to be "cool" and want to "hang out with friends". I think most kids go through a tricky patch at that age - I know I did. He's got your genes too. It sounds as though your ex didn't grow out of adolescence but your children may still be fine, especially as they know you love them. | |

Thanks both. Just had a quick visit with youngest before they head off tomorrow. Eldest was out but nobody thought to tell me he was going to be out. Feeling very down as i have no hope that eldest will ever accept me again. I would love to tell him the full story but I cant, just because his dad treated me the way he did doesnt excuse me ruining their relationship. I detest Ex but he currently has good relationship with son and I cant spoil it. I'll just be there for them both in case they need me. |
