I have three kids and really missed them this week. Tonight I got to spend some good time with my son. Actually, this has been a benefit of the separation. I get to spend a lot more 1:1 time with each of the kids. Funny how I have more time for important stuff now that I don't have to worry about my wife!
So we went skiing and then stayed up way too late watching a movie. As we were watching that movie that he's seen before he mentioned that this one guy was half good and half bad. I said just like me. He looked at me with those eight year old eyes and said "no, you're all good". Nice moment. Funny though because last week he was not so happy with me and calling me the meanest dad in the world. That's when I know I'm doing a good job.

YEY! I noticed that too ; the ex reckoned I would be on my knees begging him to take the kids off me if he didn't see them because I;d have no free time, but what I discovered was I have *bags* more free time and I love spending more time one and one with my kids instead of having to constantly referee an angry man who kept lashing out at them I can;t believe how many hours a day I spent on that man. Of course I know spend a good portion of time *thinking* about him still, but at least I can get on with my jobs at the same time |
