Its been a while since I wandered through the site, but after last night, simply had to tell everyone what a wonderful evening we had here.
I haven't been terribly active on the site for a variety of reasons, but was approached by Realdad a little while ago to host a Wikivorce party at my hotel in Lancaster.
Always one for a good night, I happily agreed. We have had a couple previously and they have always been absolutely great events.
Happy to say that the dashing and debonair Realdad and the delectable Shezi did an excellent job of organising the event.
A thoroughly good night was had by all. For me it was interesting that the majority of people who came were not from my Wikivorce graduation class - they were relatively new to the site, unlike myself. However, they were all thoroughly lovely people, finding their way through this minefield that is relationship breakdown and finding the same caring support and help that is the heart of Wikivorce that I found three and a half years ago.
If you have never been to one of the meet-ups, can I say that you have really missed out. So much fun, laughter, gossip and freedom from the usual realities of life.
The highlight of the event for me was to meet one of my early mentors at the site - the lovely demi-god Fiona. She really IS green and has the most enormous funnel-like ears.... Honest!
Now what goes on tour stays on tour...... so nuff said, but suffice it say that there were some particularly bleary eyed wikipeeps who made it to brunch, and some that didn't!
I am soooooo looking forward to the next one....

Mike - those of us in the chatroom who were unable to attend also enjoyed being able to join in via the party-cam. It was lovely to so many people clearly having a blast. I made an executive decision last night  that we should indeed have another wiki-do, and that the timing will so that I can attend |

thanks Mike, I had a great stay at your hotel and it was a great evening and it was great to put names to faces, the trip home wasn't as long as the trip to the hotel, but all the same, I loved my time there All the best P |

wow, "top night" as mick called it, indeed! Mike, you're the man... thanks for putting up with us and for your flexibility. I look forward to helping promote the Scarthwaite and your hospitality and seeing you again soon! I (personally) enjoyed the heck out of meeting so many people i'd talked to but not seen face to face and meeting new people I'd only talked to briefly. We're all in this together; also it was fun to have a continuous flow of people sitting in on the live webcam/chat tets set up for us. great fun. | |

I agree it was great to meet some of you on the webcam, even though we couldn't be there in person. Glad you all had a really great time and big thankyou to tets for letting us virtual wiki's share some of the fun. xxx |

Thanks Mike, for your hospitality and special attention. So good of you letting us stay up practically All night and keeping us entertained along the way. You did us proud, everything was great, thank you. But Tets really needs to get his keyboard sorted! None of us could type properly on it, I'm a touch typist and still couldn't do it...nothing whatsoever to do with alcohol.. guess it just added to the fun though on the live webcam link!! Thanks mike, shez, real and every one else that made the evening such a wonderful time. In a way it's amazing we can all go through what we have, and be as warm and friendly as every one was on sat/sun. thoroughly enjoyed the whole weekend, when's the next one! Thanks again to everyone Martra. |
