I just wondered i legally separated from my husband in march 2011 after marrying in 2007. i have a solicitor and am under legal aid, i have filed for unreasonable behaviour and am now waiting for the petition to come back from the courts, was wondering what the time line is to a decree nisi and absolute. also the marital home has been sold, although i was not a co-owner, i was his wife and was advised by legal to put a charge on the property which i did. the house has now been sold, and the proceeds are being held by the solicitors for the sale of the house. do you have any kind of time line for the next steps. or indeed what happens next. trying not to worry too much but have already had to drop out of uni because of stress.

HI, its a shame you have had to drop out of uni, we all understand the stress. If you can carry on partly as normally it will be better for you in the long run, trust me.
It depends on manythings how quick you get your divorce.
I was in a similar position to you and it took a year to get the absolut and consent order, (which is the more important) if there are any delays from your ex, this is what will delay.
Although it is good that your house is sold.
I am afraid its not a quick process.
The fact that the money is being held will be a delay of many weeks, as your ex isnt going to agree on a split first of.

I hope you haven't dropped out of uni permanently. Did you see your tutor first? Did you know that it is possible to suspend your studies for a period (up to two years in some places) so that you can recover, and then go back? Please don't just drop out before you have checked out all the options.
