It DOES get better, there IS light at the end...

Wanted to share good news for a change rather than depressing everyone!

Last week stbx withdrew ­object­ions to divorce and I was granted decree nisi.

Today I had the FDR and that was done & dusted. I have got spousal maintenance until I have full time permanent employment. We will share our pensions 50/50 (such as there is!). The judge congratulated us on reaching amicable agreement and everyone came away happy. I even shook stbx's hand.

I don't have a permanent job yet but at least I am employed in ongoing temp work.

Each month I pay my way and all bills are paid.

I am going to counselling and that is helping - my counsellor says I seem more positive and in control of my life now.
Praps I can come off those ADs now???

Spring is coming. Life holds hope again. I shall be a fully independent, single person in control of my own life in less than 6 weeks and one day.

It has been a hard hard year - one that I don't want to repeat ever... I know I will still have bad days but it IS GETTING BETTER!

Wooo!!! Go you, that's excellent news. It's such a weight off the shoulders to know that things are finally almost over isn't it? Excellent to hear that your and your X2B are still amicable too, that's wonderful.

Congratulations. I really respect you for being brave enough to go through the divorce. Thank you for posting as it is good to hear that things can be positive. It helps those of us who are staring into the start of the long tunnel of divorce. I will keep telling myself that I should keep staring straight ahead, march on and the light will eventually come into view.

So good luck with your new life and once again well done (am jealous!!!!)

Well done. Always see a doctor before coming off anti depressants. There is less probability of depression returning when a course of treatment is completed.

"If you stop the medication before 8 or 9 months is up, the symptoms of depression are more likely to come back. The current recommendation is that it is best to take antidepressants for at least six months after you start to feel better. It is worthwhile thinking about what might have made you vulnerable, or might have helped to trigger off your depression. There may be ways of making this less likely to happen again.
