Re:Help please- leaving solictor - way to expensive

My solictors cost are out of my capacity and family members who were going to support are no longer able. How do I go about leaving my current solictor I am near stage of a consent order being arrange as EX and I may have come to an aggrement the rest of the process I can not go the course.

please help very worried as I am in a Precarious situation I belive and feeling so low at this time.

When I got to the point where I could not afford my solicitor any more, I just told her and agreed to pay what was owing off at £100 per month - it took over a year! After that I wrote my own letters to my ex, but I did go back to her to check over the consent order which my ex got drawn up by his solicitor and she signed the bottom of it to say I had taken legal advice.

I think I just sent her (my solicitor) an email explaining my situation - although she already knew things were not good financially for me and she had tried to get some maintenance for me although in the end I had to go through the CSA. She did agree to look at things on an "ad hoc" basis e.g. the final consent order and I paid separately for that.

I also wrote to my ex's solicitor to say I was self repping now and to send any further correspondence to my home address.

If you do go down the self repping route when you are trying to agree finances it is best to have taken some legal advice beforehand and know what you are happy to accept.
