is it possible to change solicitors in mid divorce?...i feel very let down by mine and feel like i have been missled in the approch to my divorce

I did it and I'm very glad I did. It costs a bit as you have to pay the bill for the old one and pay the new one to get up to speed on your case - reading time plus an initial meeting with you going through everything. But if you are unhappy with the solicitor you have it can be the best thing to do.

Yes, if you aren't happy with your solicitor it's possible to change. The disadvantages are it may take a new solicitor time to read any documents and come up to speed which they will charge for. Also if you receive legal aid there may be a delay.

Be aware that what you think may be a problem with an individual solicitor may rather be a problem with the system. on't change solicitors unless you are certain it will cure the problem.

Forseti is right. It depends on why you want to change your solicitor.

In my case it was because she was hopelessly slow: she would promise to do things within a week and three or four weeks later I would be still chasing her to do them and being charged for the phone calls in which I did this.

If you are not happy with your solicitor's advice, however, as Forseti says, it may just be that you don't like what the law says. In that case the sooner you bite the bullet and work with what there is the easier it will be, and changing solicitors will just make you more frustrated.

If you've got the sort of issues that some other posters mention, remember that the best way to get a good solicitor is to get a referral from someone who has used one and can recommend them. Directories and the like are of very limited value.
