Be sceptical of what sols tell you. I think sometimes they fly off to their
own fantasy World. Dreaming of what might have been. I too was told that
the new woman could be supoenaed to disclose her wealth. I never heard
another word about that, once I was in their pay system.
Looking
back, I feel it was all to draw me in to their very expensive, pushing
paper around, petty arguments.
Sols even argued between
themselves over something I had no control over and billed me for it.
I also take issue with a monthly bill from them for £1,500 when my
gross income was £1,100 and they knew it. The Eleven hundred was of course
before any living expenses. I am now deeply in debt due to them.
My bitterness doesn't lie with the loser ex, but with the solicitor firm,
who in my opinion, took me to the cleaners.
When in their
waiting area, I saw their hourly charge and stated to the receptionist that
I couldn't afford it. I was almost in tears and another client offered me
water.
I was then taken to a side room, and was persuaded (sold) to at
least see the boss. The boss then pontificated for a few hours, throwing
herself around in fury as to my injustice. Even calling in a
barrister from another room. Thinking back, he looked
so embarrassed to be involved.
I of course believed it as I had no
idea of divorce. On what she was going to do, including supoenering the OW,
a good selling job, and my bill was 4k plus a further 5 on account. That
was just the start of my never ending payments to them.
I've
been shafted alright, not by my ex, but by my own
solicitors.
