Introducing children to new partner

I totally agree with you. My ex assualted me in front of our children. Something he still denies to date. He has remained on the marital home and still refuses to sell as he see's it as punishing me despite the fact our children live with me in rented accommodation. His new g'friend has a child and she was introduced to my ex. Neither of these 2 people have a clue what he is like, and tbh it say's more about her the fact that she has introduced my ex to her daughter after only 3 mths!! She probably see's him as a cash cow as its a 4bed detatched house with drive etc that we lived in. I only wish that others were as sensible as you

Slow, slow slow is my advice. My partner and I took things very gradually and I finally met my now step son about 8 months after meeting his father.

I think you always have to bear in mind how huge this issue is for kids. Every step you take the kids always have to come first. Also, important this bit... BE YOURSELF. I've always tried to stay true to who I am and my step son loves me for it. Brilliant advice from my partner at the time which I followed closely and I'm now blessed with a great relationship with my step son which I never thought could be possible.

You sound such a sensiblemum. Your ex sounds like he is going out of his way to be damn awkward but will accuse you of being the obstructive one when all you want is the best possible for your kids.
Be careful here. My Grandaughter started not wanting to go for contact. He wouldnt discuss her issue at all. 2years down the line she is hysterical, panicked and in a right old state. Says she doesnt like daddy etc...Judge at first said it was a tantrum (she is 4). She now has nightmares etc. Daughter is at wits end. Wants her to see daddy but is besides herself as to why she is like this.
What I am trying to say is address your son not wanting to go if you can now. My daughter tried but a bias judge and a pig of a father has got it to this stage.
It could be a small thing that has upset him (like my daughter tried to tell her ex)
but in his little mind is a huge thing. Its tough and you will need to be strong but my advice is dont let his worry fester. Your concern is for your little fella not what is going make your ex ecstatic

My daughter came out with 'Is xxxxxxx and her xxxxx going to live with daddy?! She is so upset. My son remembers exactly what happened during the assault and is over protective of me with everyone. I told my ex that he put himself first on this one, not the children. Despite their young age they are not stupid, they knew his 'New friend' was his girlfriend!!! They havent met my new partner but my son has come out with 'He wont hurt you will he mummy, like daddy did?!' Now all he wants to do is go in my new partners car with the roof down- I told him I had a friend with a sports car, so he wants to go in their car, bless. My partner and I are in agreement that slow, slow, slow is the answer. I would love to settle with this guy and have another baby, but I dont want to rush things and spoil it. I am glad that I have been the sensible one in all this and can hold my head up high : )

Arrange a party with your kids and invite your new partner in this party with some special gifts for your kids.
when your kids feel good then introduce your new partner with kids.
i think it is a very good way to introduce.
